What is it?
Architectural stonemasonry is a traditional yet highly skilled craft that shapes, carves, and finishes natural stone for use in construction and restoration. From commercial buildings to grand places of worship such as mosques and cathedrals, stonemasons combine technical precision with creativity to produce both structural and decorative elements. The trade demands mastery of tools and techniques, a deep understanding of stone properties, and the ability to deliver work that is durable, functional, and visually striking, preserving heritage while contributing to modern architecture.
